  1. I just saw something about these propositions that each of them contain provisions to make them mutually exclusive; in other words only one of these propositions can be effective and that will be the one with the most votes. Does anyone know whether that is the case? Is there a reason to prefer one over the other if I like both of them?

Does anyone know if LAUSD will be doing anything similar on the westside?

    • I’ve heard conflicting info from various sources. I’ve read most often (and most recently) that if both pass, the one with the highest votes wins. Earlier there was some discussion that they both could pass and be implemented.

Prop 30 includes community college funding. Prop 38 does not. Prop 30 is a sales tax and an income tax on the highest wage earners. Prop 38 is an income tax for all but the lowest earners.

I’ll read the voting catalog and get my information directly from the propositions. I don’t feel comfortable with the lay arguments I’ve heard from either side.

And you should call ESC West and/or Zimmer’s office and encourage them to do this. Since Deasy’s attending this one, it will be televised/reported in some capacities, but it’s always better to see in person.
